“Those are big, lofty comparisons, so I’m certainly not saying that he’s those guys yet. But there’s a lot of instincts. He plays with a change of pace when the ball gets in his hands ... When things go off-schedule he shows what a feel he has to find soft spots. … I’m really excited to get him in that tight end room,” McVay elaborated. It’s not clear that Ferguson will have a major role in his first year with the Rams, but with Tyler Higbee heading into the final year of his contract, this sure has the look of a pick that gets handed the starter role in 2026.

He will join a fairly crowded LA wide receiver room, with little chance of being a factor in the team’s passing offense in 2025. Inconsistencies in Mumpfield’s (5’11/186) play have followed him for much of his career. A reliable contributor who posted a 63-749-8 line as a true freshman at Akron, Mumpfield surpassed 500 yards in each of his four college seasons, but never showed traits of a dominant No. 1 receiver (career .215 TPRR). He topped out with a line of 52-813-5 in 2024 with Pittsburgh, leading the team, but never stood out amongst his fellow receivers during his three seasons with the team. Known more for his route running than his athletic abilities (4.59 40-time, 6.35 RAS), Mumpfield can play both out wide (54.6 percent snap rate) and in the slot (46.1 percent slot rate). He averaged a pedestrian 4.4 YAC/REC for his career, per PFF, and his 1.71 career YPRR puts him on the lower end of prospects taken in recent years. Overall, Mumpfield profiles as a player who could eventually turn into a contributing role player.

Paul Jr. (6’1/222) made a major impact in 2022 with 62 tackles, 8.0 TFLs, and 4.0 sacks while being named a Freshman All-American with Arkansas. He transferred to Ole Miss last year and took his game to another level, leading a stout Rebels defensive front with 88 tackles, 11 TFLs, four PBUs, and a fantastic 87.2 defensive grade. The Third Team AP All-American had an uneven Combine showing with a 90th percentile 1.58s 10-yard split and 84th percentile 36-inch vert, but he bombed the agility tests and has sub 30-inch arms for an unremarkable 6.13 Relative Athletic Score. While his sawed-off dimensions and limited athleticism affect his ability to take on blockers, Paul Jr. is a demon when blitzing (27 percent pressure rate) and has the range to cover tight ends and running backs.

Hamilton (6’3/299) joined fellow 2025 draftee Tyleik Williams to form arguably the most destructive defensive tackle tandem in the country for DC Jim Knowles’ No. 1 ranked defense. He earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten each of the last two seasons, starting all 16 games with 51 tackles, 6.0 TFLs, and 28 stops with an efficient 7.8% missed tackle rate. Hamilton ran an 88th percentile 4.95s 40-yard dash with a pair of 85th percentile jumps and a Herculean 35 bench reps (96th percentile) for an excellent 9.22 Relative Athletic Score. His stocky frame allows Hamilton to operate with a leverage advantage, while his above-average athleticism gives him a quickness advantage on the snap. He isn’t a particularly nuanced pass rusher, but his ability to eat up blocks and disengage made him a fearsome run defender. Hamilton’s athleticism and quick feet should land him a job as a rotational interior lineman on early downs.

The Rams moved up with the Colts to make the pick. Hunter (5’9/204) brings a productive four-year profile to the pros that features a career rushing line of 539-3,371-25 and a receiving line of 68-558-4. Even while sharing a backfield with Tank Bigsby for two seasons (2021 and 2022), Hunter still managed to average 8.9 touches per game in those two seasons, along with 61.8 yards from scrimmage per game. Hunter excels at generating yards after contact (3.96 YCO/ATT) and forced a missed tackle on 30.6 percent of his carries – an impressive total. His 204-pound frame may prevent him from fully replicating the elite tackle-breaking traits we saw from Hunter in college, but his 4.44 speed and physicality at the point of contact will make him a challenge for any defender to bring down. Hunter still has some work to do as a pass blocker, which could limit him from seeing significant third-down work early in his career, but his ability to contribute on special teams (313 career snaps and 25 career kick returns) will give him an immediate path toward playing time while irons out finer points of his game. Hunter won’t push Kyren Williams for the starting job as a rookie, but he will compete with Blake Corum for the RB2 role in LA.

A two-time All-Sun Belt performer in 2021 and 2022, Stewart transferred to Michigan in 2023 recording 8.5 TFLs and 5.5 sacks as a reserve.. Last year he earned Second Team All-Big Ten nod with 8.5 sacks, 13.0 TFL and a 92.3 pass rush grade that ranked second nationally to only Adbul Carter (92.4). Posted a dominant 27.7 percent overall win rate and was extremely productive when he would occasionally throw a bull rush at opponents, recording a lethal 26.3 percent pressure rate. His jaw dropping 42.4% win rate on true pass sets is one of the highest marks of the last half decade. Stubby at 6’1/249 with 31 7/8th” arms, but a feisty, tireless player who explodes into contact and is more than willing to bow up in run support. Uses his low center of gravity to get underneath blockers’ pads, coupling a fierce bull rush with the fast twitch athleticism to run the hoop. Aggressive, punishing play style and is unnaturally powerful for his size, going after 300+ pound tackles in run support when many players his size would try to dip around blocks. While Stewart has size limitations, his tough, frenetic play style should translate to a consistent passing down 3-4 outside linebacker role.

Ferguson (6’4/247) went from a part-time player as a freshman and sophomore to a full-time role in 2023, posting a 42/414/6 line. Ferguson earned a larger role in his final season with 43 catches for 591 yards but just three touchdowns. The Ducks abused opposing defenses with Ferguson on play-action looks. He totaled 26 catches, 379 yards, and one score on play-action passes. Ferguson sent his draft stock soaring at the combine. His 4.65 Forty, 10’2” broad jump, and 39” vertical were all above the 90th percentile at the position. He left Indy with a 9.84 RAS. Ferguson needs to show more fight in the run game and at the catch point. He’s an adequate blocker at best and caught just 3-of-12 contested targets in his final season. His production on play action suggests he could start out his career as a pass-catching backup who sees work primarily in 12-personnel looks. The Rams have a deep tight end group as is, with starter Tyler Higbee backed up by Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen. Ferguson is very unlikely to be fantasy-relevant in 2025.

The Rams ultimately decided on a deal with the Falcons, which landed them a first-round pick in 2026 in exchange for this year’s 26th overall pick. The deal also gave the Rams a pick in tonight’s second round. “To be able to get a future (No.) 1 is a big deal,” said Rams HC Sean McVay, “to just move back 20 spots.” Rams general manager Les Snead added “The value going up there, teams were asking too much — more than we would give.” The Athletic’s Dianna Russini earlier reported that teams which received calls from the Rams believed they were targeting wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who eventually went to the Panthers at No. 8.

She notes that the Rams, who currently hold the No. 26 pick, may have to move up to land their guy. The Rams made an effort to move up for Brock Bowers last year but couldn’t get a deal done. They instead looked to the other side of the ball and drafted Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse. With both Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland projected to go well within the top 20 picks, LA would have to move up to have a shot at either player. Russini also noted that the Jets could be in the mix for Warren with the No. 7 overall pick. Even if the Rams move up, they aren’t likely to be in play for the Mackey Award winner. Loveland, on the other hand, could be in their budget.
